With the weather on the turn, it might be time to make sure you get your car ready for winter driving.
With slippy roads, longer nights and potentially reduced visibility it’s always worth checking a few things to make sure your car is prepped and ready come rain or snow. We’ve outlined some tips here, but if you’d like an expert eye you can call us to book in your Winter Health Check.
Check all your lights are working
Give all your lights a check over. Now it’s getting darker, earlier you don’t want to be stuck with no lights! Don’t forget your fog lights too!
Fill up your windscreen washer fluid
Make sure your washer fluid is full because the antifreeze will help defrost things quickly when the temperature starts to drop.
Check your tyres
Tyres without good tread are not a good idea in the snow and ice. Less tread= less grip. Also, remember to check the tyre pressure. Your car manual can let you know the ideal pressure for your car so there at their optimum.
Added extra – Don’t forget your supplies
This is especially important if you are off on a long journey or going off the beaten path. The AA recommends;
- Blanket/sleeping bag
- Torch (with spare batteries)
- Rope
- De-icer and scraper
- Mobile phone charger
- Spare headlamp bulbs
- Jump leads
- High-visibility vest
- Shovel
- Tyre pump
- Water
- High-energy snacks
- Wellies
- Hat and gloves
With all that gear, your car will be ready for winter driving… and you’ll be well prepared if you get stuck somewhere.
For added peace of mind we can offer a winter health check for you vehicle which gives you the confidence it’s ready. Get in touch and ask for more details if you’re interested.
